William “Bill” E. Winson, 92 of Lambertville, MI, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at Vibrant Life Senior Living. Born May 20, 1923, in Elyria, OH, he was the son of William and Beatrice (Heathcote) Winson. A 1941 graduate of Elyria High, he attended Oberlin College before entering the US Army during WWII, and later graduated from Ohio State University. Bill then graduated from the University of Toledo, Law School in 1957. He practiced law in Lambertville, Michigan for 30 years, retiring in 1988.
He was elected as Bedford Township Supervisor in 1963 and was a member of the Monroe County Supervisors and was past secretary of the Monroe County Building Authority. For many years, both before and after his term as Township Supervisor, he served as Bedford Township Attorney. He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Temperance, The State Bar of Michigan, Monroe County Bar Association, VFW, Post 9656, Lambertville, MI, Lambertville Civic Club, Michigan Democratic Party, the former Rotary Club of Bedford Township and the Ohio State Alumni Association.
Surviving are his nephew, Jerry (Joy) Winson; nieces, Gail (Larry) Whitman, Vicki (Keith) Pershing, and Amanda (Alex) Wisham; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Winson. Bill was preceded in death by his brother, John Winson, niece, Judith Adler and nephew, Michael Nasipak.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Sunday, September 27, 2015, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, September 28, 2015, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 1690 Sterns Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where he will lie in state after 10:00 am. Pastor Frank Paine, officiating. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. www.pawlakfuneralhome.com
